FIGHTS AND MARTIAL ARTS: AN ANALYSIS OF THE PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE IN BRAZILIAN PHYSICAL EDUCATION DISCURSIVE FIELD

Arisson Vinícius Landgraf Gonçalves, Méri Rosane Santos da Silva

Abstract

Discussion about the Martial Arts and Fights has appeared more frequently in the academic scenario of the national Physical Education. Thus, this study aims to identify and discuss how these practices are produced as knowledge pertinent to be addressed by this area of knowledge. From some notions of discursive analysis inspired by Foucault’s theoretical formulations, we may say, through the selection of articles from five national journals, the conceptions of Martial Arts and Fights appear as two discursive formations in productive dispute. Consequently, they produce a discursive battleground as way of thinking, practicing and talking about these practices, based on the different epistemological foundations that sustain them.

Keywords

Martial arts; fights; field discourse; scientific discourse.
