The promotion of the athletic style in the Capricho magazine and the production of a representation of the body of female adolescents of our times
Abstract
The present paper discusses the promotion of the athletic style as a means of producing a representation of the body of female adolescents of our times. All issues of Capricho published in 2001 and 2002 were analyzed; the magazine is a media product targeted at adolescents. Capricho is seen herein as having a pedagogic element that provides knowledge on physical activity, health, beauty, and the body, since it gives advice and recommendations that point trends and attitudes to be followed, features statements by people considered role models, as well as advertisements that aim at teaching its readers how to be active, attractive, modern, beautiful, and healthy adolescents.
